Oscar Berglund, Chief Executive Officer
Oscar joined Trustly in 2010 when he was elected to the Board. He became Chief Financial Officer in 2013 and was appointed CEO in 2016. He started his career at Goldman Sachs in Investment Banking, based in London and Moscow. From 2007 to 2012, Oscar was a portfolio manager at Alpcot Capital Management, where he was part of the team that developed Europe’s first actively managed ETF. Oscar holds a Masters in Science from the Stockholm School of Economics.
Mats Backman, Group CFO
Joined in 2021. Previously the CFO at Veoneer, a worldwide leader in automotive technology listed on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stockholm, Mats has 25 years of experience in finance, compliance, M&A and international expansion. Prior to Veoneer, he worked as Group CFO at Autoliv and, before that, as Group CFO at Sandvik, both of which are large global leaders within their respective industries. Backman is also a board member of Gränges.
Sara Berg, Chief Business Affairs & Legal Officer
Sara joined Trustly in 2012 as Chief Legal Officer and later Chief Operating Office. In 2020, Sara was appointed Chief Business Affairs & Legal Officer. Prior to that, from 2005 to 2012, she was a senior associate at the Swedish law firm Delphi with a focus on M&A and corporate commercial law. During 2004–2005, she was a law clerk at the Stockholm District Court. Sara holds a Master of Law degree from Umeå University. Sara also sits on the board of Signicat, a digital identity and electronic signature solution.
Karim Ahmad, Chief Technology and Product Officer
Formerly the Chief Product and Transformation Officer at Paysafe Group, Karim brings with him over 20 years of experience in implementing long-term strategy and delivery for financial services. Prior to Paysafe, he worked as EVP, Global Product and Innovation for TSYS, a US-based company offering a wide spectrum of payments solutions. Before TSYS, Ahmad was a partner at Bain & Co, specializing in payments and financial services.
Jonas Palmquist, CFO, EMEA
Jonas was appointed Chief Financial Officer at Trustly in 2015. He joined us from Scope Capital Advisory, a venture capital company that focuses on creating growth at companies through rapid international expansion, where he was a partner. Prior to that, he worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. Jonas holds a Masters in Science from the School of Economics and a Masters in Science from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, as well as a CEMS MIM. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
Alex Gonthier, Chief Strategy Officer & Founder Trustly North America
Alex is from Switzerland, so it’s no surprise that he’s a money expert. Since 1997, he has been a founder and entrepreneur, building several successful payments companies. Alex was CEO and co-founder of iPIN (acquired by Aepona and subsequently, Intel Corp.), a leading online and mobile payment platform for the likes of Visa, Wells Fargo, HSBC, AT&T, Verizon, Vodafone, Orange, BT and GM. Alex was also the CTO of mobile payments company Paymo, which merged with Boku (LON: BOKU), the global leader in carrier billing-based mobile payments fueling customers like Apple, EA, Facebook, Google and Sony. As CEO and Director of online and mobile ticketing platforms Trinity Mobile and Ticketscript (now part of Eventbrite, NYSE: EB), he learned firsthand about payments from the merchant acceptance perspective. Alex was previously an Advisor to private equity firm 3i (LON: III) and a Venture Partner at venture capital firm Wellington Partners in London.
Johan Tjärnberg, Chairman | Founder, Bambora
In 2014, Johan founded Bambora, an international payments processor for in-store and online retailers. Following Ingenico’s acquisition of Bambora in July 2017, Johan served as Ingenico’s EVP Small & Medium Business and, until most recently, as EVP of Retail Business. Prior to founding Bambora, Johan served as CFO and later CEO of Point, a leading European payment services provider.
Fredrik Näslund, Board member | Partner, Nordic Capital
Fredrik is a Partner at Nordic Capital Advisory AB, advisor to Nordic Capital’s funds, responsible for Norway and Denmark, as well as Technology & Payments. In the past 15 years, Fredrik was involved in building Nordic Capital’s position as the leading private equity investor in Nordic technology and payments, as the responsible adviser for investments, such as Point, Bambora, Itiviti, CINT and Trustly. Before that, Fredrik held various senior positions in Capio. Fredrik holds a Master of Science in Engineering Physics from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg and a Master of Science in Business Administration from the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg.
Måns Alfvén, Board member | Co-Founder, Alfvén & Didrikson
Måns has been on Trustly’s Board of Directors since 2011. He is the co-founder of investment firm Alfvén & Didrikson. Måns was previously the CEO of Dipylon Medical, a startup in medical technology equipment. He has also worked as Sweden’s Trade Commissioner in Australia. Between 1999 and 2004, he worked as a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. Måns holds a Masters in Science from the Stockholm School of Economics and has also studied at Wharton Business School, Pennsylvania, and at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.
Daniel Berglund, Board member | Partner, Nordic Capital
Daniel is a Partner at Nordic Capital Advisory AB, advisor to Nordic Capital’s funds, where he focuses on investments in technology and payments. Before he began at Nordic Capital, he worked at Bain & Company, most recently as a Senior Associate. Daniel holds a Master of Science in Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics and Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
Cecilia Qvist, Board member | Senior Advisor and Investor
Cecilia Qvist is a senior advisor and investor. Qvist also serves as a member of the Board at Kinnevik, a leading technology growth investor and board member and deputy Chairman of CINT, the world's largest consumer network for digital survey-based research. Prior to that, Qvist held several senior global operating roles at Spotify, Ericsson, Swedbank and NASDAQ, as well as a seat on the Board of Directors of Catena Media.
Liliana Solomon, Board member | Chief Financial Officer of the Awaze Group
Liliana Solomon is currently the Chief Financial Officer of the Awaze Group, the largest vacation rentals provider in Europe, owned by a private equity investor. Liliana has over 25 years of experience across the telecom and technology industry, having previously held senior executive roles with both publicly listed companies like Vodafone, Cable&Wireless and Deutsche Telecom and in private equity-owned firms. She holds an MBA from INSEAD and a PhD in Physics and is fluent in English, German, French and Romanian. Liliana has served as a non-executive Director in publicly listed companies like Scout24 AG and Metro AG.
